Photo Tourism - Frequently Asked Questions

The applet asks for me to trust it. Why should I?
The JOGL library we use is signed by Sun Microsystems. If you don't agree to the trust prompt, the applet won't be able to use the JOGL library, and will not load.

Why doesn't the applet load?
Make sure you have the latest version (1.5+) of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed.
Mac users, try using Camino (web browser) if the applet doesn't load.

Why does the applet run slowly?
Try reducing the size of the applet window.
Make sure you have an up-to-date driver for your video card installed.
If you are using Firefox, make sure you are running the latest version.
If the applet still runs unacceptably slow, try running the low quality version here.

Why does my web browser freeze when I try to close the applet or visit another page?
This is a known bug for which we are still working on a solution.
If you web browser does freeze, open up Task Manager (Activity Monitor on Macs) and end the process. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Is this the same program I saw in the videos on the homepage?
No, to make this program runnable inside a web browser, we had to re-implement it from the ground up in Java. Therefore, the program differs a bit from the one featured in the videos.
